Data SheetsBSCCO 2-2-1-2 (SCP 99.9%) PowdersScope:This product data sheet characterizes Bismuth Strontium Calcium Copper Oxide or BSCCO-2212, SCP, 99.9% purity, powders produced by SCI Engineered Materials (SCI). The following information is not a specification; however, it may prove useful to the customer in developing a formal product specification. General Description:The superconducting BSCCO-2212 SCP powders are prepared from a intimately mixed precursor powder produced by an ultrasonically assisted co-precipitation method. Soluble metallic compounds (typically nitrates) are dissolvedin water then precipitated using an ultrasonically assisted precipitation process licensed from Sandia National Labs. Phase pure, low carbon content superconducting powder is obtained by using a low pressure calcination method. The low processing temperatures employed in this method results in powders with fine particle size. Schematics of Co-precipitation ProcessThe precursor is prepared from 99.9% purity Bi2O3, SrCO3, CaCO3, Cu(NO3)2 dissolved in HNO3 acid. Powders prepared using this process are more chemically homogenous and exhibit finer particle sizes than powders prepared using the traditional solid state method. Powders with customized stochiometry and dopings are also available on request.Typical x-ray diffraction pattern, thermal analysis, and physical/chemical properties are given below.
Handling Instructions:To maintain a low carbon levels it is recommended that the powders be handled only under a carbon free atmosphere. Other handling instructions are included in the enclosed MSDS sheet. |
