Powders

Featuring our High Tc Line of Superconducting Powders

Superconductive Components Inc., offers several compositions of ceramic powders including High Tc Superconducting powders, powders for Fuel Cells, Gas Separation Membranes and Lithium ion batteries.

Powder Processing:

SCI uses two processes by which we manufacture our High Tc and other Ceramic Powders.

Solid State (SS) - The Solid State process provides the least expensive and largest batch size product compared to the other processes we use. The procedure involves a simple blending of the required precursors, followed by one or more reactions at high temperature. For High Tc Superconductor ceramic powders we use our patented low pressure calcination process to insure low carbon content. This process yields phase pure powder within the detectability limits of xray diffraction.

Sandia Chemical Prep (SCP) - The SCP process, was developed at Sandia National Laboratory and is used for making YBCO and BSCCO High Tc materials as well as materials for solid oxide fuel cells. The SCP process is a wet chemical process, involving precipitation from nitrate solutions to form homogeneous precipitates of metal cations. These are calcined using our low pressure calcination process to form the desired compound. This process yields powders which are phase pure, nominally less than 5 micron in average particle size, with chemical purities from 99.9% to 99.999%.
